Alder Hey Innovation is partnering with Lyrebird to trial AI medical scribes that streamline clinical documentation and free up clinician time. This cutting-edge collaboration is reshaping how care is delivered more efficiently, safely and with greater focus on patients.
From Clinician Curiosity to System-Wide Impact
The partnership began in the most authentic way, clinician to clinician. During a visit to Australia, one of our surgeons observed Lyrebird in action and immediately recognised its potential. What started as a single encounter soon sparked widespread interest across Alder Hey. Word travelled fast among peers and leadership alike, and the momentum grew organically. It was clear this wasn’t just another tech solution it addressed a deeply felt challenge in healthcare: the time-consuming nature of clinical documentation.
This real-user enthusiasm aligns perfectly with how Alder Hey Innovation approaches technology adoption: solve real problems, empower real people.
Ensuring Safety, Seamlessness and Scalability
Introducing new digital tools into a clinical environment is never taken lightly. Before implementation, our governance and IT teams worked closely with Lyrebird to rigorously assess security, data compliance, and system compatibility. Only once all standards were met did we proceed to co-design a phased rollout plan, one that prioritised patient safety and clinician ease.
The result? A smooth, rapid onboarding experience that’s already generating strong interest, with over 20% of our clinical workforce currently on the Lyrebird waiting list.
Innovation Through Partnership
At Alder Hey Innovation, we’re constantly seeking technologies that support our mission to enhance care, improve workflows, and deliver better outcomes for children and young people. Collaborating with organisations like Lyrebird enables us to move faster, scale smarter, and ensure the solutions we adopt are meaningful in practice, not just in theory.
“Our partnership with Lyrebird represents an exciting step toward a future where technology empowers healthcare professionals to deliver even better care… Integrating AI into our operations can improve efficiency and patient outcomes, ensuring that every penny spent contributes to making a real difference.”
We’re proud to be shaping the future of paediatric care alongside Lyrebird. As this collaboration continues, our focus remains on supporting clinicians with intelligent, integrated solutions because when we invest in the people who deliver care, we ultimately improve the lives of those receiving it.
